Key findings
African Francophone immigrants in Alberta develop multiple forms of belonging to many social groups, whose principal manifestation includes a collective belonging to the ethnic community of the country of origin, to the francophone community, and to Canadian society in general.
African Francophone immigrants experience three forms of discrimination: 1) linguistic discrimination towards the Francophones of Canada; 2) racial discrimination in Canadian society in general; and 3) racial discrimination within the Francophone community.
