Ethno-racial organizations were more effective than mainstream organizations because they were more closely connected with and responsive to the ethnic community’s needs.
Chinese community organizations bridged the gap in social services for Chinese immigrants. As transitional institutions, they helped ease the process of immigrant settlement and adaptation.
