Notes
Key recommendations
Future research should look more closely at the familial contexts of African families who are affected by HIV in Canada as well as how the stigma attached to this illness impacts them in social contexts. African immigrants are overrepresented in HIV statistics across a number of Canadian provices while they make up a small proportion of the total Canadian population. Therefore, attention should be paid to how their settlement process is impacted by the stigma, so that they do not face further marginalization.

In addition to the impact of the illness on thier physical and emotional health, they face stigma and, hence, experience exclusion from family and social agents.
