Key findings:
1) All of the participants attributed their agency as the primary factor in pathways to success, despite multiple structural barriers throughout settlement and integration in Canada.
2) Participants defined ‘success’ in multiple ways, such as freedom to pursue practical goals, taking care of family needs, fulfilling social responsibilities and/or spiritual enlightenment.
3) Lifelong learning played a key role to enhance agency.

Increase adult learning opportunities pre- and post-migration, as well as during the resettlement process, to increase the knowledge and agency of refugees.
